"Sophie" At 4 pm on Feb. 23, I watched Ole Soph, kick up her heels in the new snow for her last time. I never stopped being in awe watching her kick up her heels. Twenty minutes later, I knew she was once again having another stroke or siezure. She had this problem in August of 2006, but recovered and had a GREAT year and a half. Her eyes told me she didn't want to live out her last years worrying about when the next episode would occur, so I made the dreaded call. She left us eating her favorite grain, hay, and the beloved shedding blade scratching her itchies. I feel so lucky to have had such a great relationship with Sophie for 20 years and her legacy will live on in Dancing Phoebe, Dragonfly's Tiger Lily, and Dragonfly's Just in Time. For all of you who had lost your confidence riding, please remember who helped you gain your confidence back, and for all of Sophie's kids, (who are now adults) please remember who taught you how to ride and got you your first blue ribbon! Please feel free to write a story in Sophie's guest book in her memory. |
